In the comics world, there are a whole lot of tall tales a couple of man like Rob Liefeld. And a few of them are even true. However there are these couple that Liefeld want to clear the air about, considered one of which got here up at the panel he hosted for San Diego Comedian Com 2025.
So should you’re a Liefeld fan (and even should you simply admire the report being set straight in comics historical past), allow us to – or fairly, the man himself – let you know about the time Rob Liefeld almost got banned from San Diego Comedian Con.
“I used to be referred to as out by some individuals who ran Comic-Con who’re not with us,” Liefeld explains, “they’ve since handed. They have been very type to me in that they didn’t comply with by means of with the lifetime ban that I used to be threatened with in the hallway of Corridor B.”
Sure, apparently in 1992, a a lot youthful Rob Liefeld had safety referred to as on him at SDCC, and needed to communicate with the people that ran the conference.

“However proper there,” says the legendary Cable artist, “I am surrounded by safety guards, and there is a gentleman who says, ‘You recognize, we’re not proud of you. We’re , A.) kicking you out of the constructing and a couple of.) supplying you with a lifetime ban. I mentioned A and a couple of, no, I meant 1 and B, I want extra espresso.”
That final bit had nothing to do with the story – Rob simply wanted extra espresso.
“The factor is,” he concludes, “That was the starting of Picture Comics and the craziness we navigated and [back then] I mentioned [to security] ‘Look guys, the tensions have been down and had eased.’ And clearly I did not have a lifetime ban, as a result of right here I’m, OK? I did not do a Face Off.”
We’re so glad of the reality, Rob. We’re so glad of the reality.
